The team at Spiros Law, P.C. is proud to recognize Law Day 2018 today, a day to celebrate our nation’s long heritage of liberty, justice, and equality for all citizens. The theme of this year’s Law Day is “Separation of Powers: Framework for Freedom”, and it highlights the dynamic system that allows for checks and balances on the powers of each of the three branches. This system has stood strong for 229 years and has ensured that all of our citizens enjoy liberty under the law.
The first Law Day was commemorated by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1958. The purpose of this day is to remind everyone that we are governed by ourselves and the rule of law that we collectively established and agreed upon. This liberty is ensured by the rule of law. This 60th annual law day, we are encouraged to remember why this was established and reflect on the fundamental separation of powers that are essential to our constitutional purpose.
