Senior Associate, Andy Purcell, was recently featured on three local radio stations, WIVR River Country, WVLI the Valley, and WFAV Favorite Hits, all located in Kankakee. This week is National Work Zone Awareness Week so Attorney Andy Purcell took the opportunity to discuss, with the interviewers and listeners, how the week is designed to educate the public in general, but most specifically, how it can help save lives. He also discussed how to avoid a collision in a work zone, the important steps to take if you are involved in an accident, and how speaking with a personal injury attorney can help protect your rights.
There are many dangers on the road and work zones create extra hazards and require more attention when traveling through them. Andy explained how it is important to minimize distractions, maintain focus on the road, and adhere to all traffic signs and rules at all times and especially when traveling through work zones. Even when following all the rules of the road and driving with focus it is not always possible to avoid a collision when others are not following the rules of the road and driving recklessly. Knowing this, Andy then reviewed what to do if you find yourself involved in a motor vehicle accident. Andy recommended that drivers pull off to a safe spot on the road and contact the police. If possible, take pictures of the scene of the accident and seek medical attention if necessary.
Andy also took the time to explain the importance of contacting an attorney before contacting insurance companies. At Spiros Law, we can review the details of a situation in a free consultation where we can determine if we would be able to help through representation. Oftentimes, insurance companies are trained to give people the lowest settlement possible, as quickly as possible. Hiring an attorney will take the stress away from you, providing you with an ally that is looking out for your best interest. The attorney will deal with insurance companies and medical bills on your behalf, allowing you to focus on your injuries. Andy ends the interview by explaining how you can get in contact with an attorney at Spiros Law, and notes that if there is no cost for a consultation as well as no out-of-pocket cost to our clients.
